Giving what you need?

I've searched and searched for my wants and at the end of my journey its turned out that my needs have found me. The all too attractive path that was leading me towards what I wanted so desperately was leading me away from all that I needed. This is the contradiction of life. You get what you want but not what you need. Maybe we need to look at this differently, maybe its not about getting what you want but giving to others what they need. What if someone came into your life at one point and said here, this is a gift for you, nothing in return is needed, not even a thank you, just take it and live, and that gift was exactly what you needed. What if this was our goal in life, not to chase what we wanted but to give to others what they needed?
